These are testimonies of people who have walked through the darkness of war but found light within themselves for the future.

Das Gesicht des Auges
Das Gesicht des Auges” curated by Vlada Ralko, explores the concepts of “vision” and human responsibility in the face of socio-cultural catastrophes.

In essence, human existence is held by the retina, a fragile coordinate grid that requires renewal time and again,” writes Vlada in the exhibition concept.
The exhibition will feature works by Volodymyr Budnikov, Yurij Leiderman, Vlada Ralko, Dieter Rukhaberle, Bernhard Vogt.

STAY UNITED 2023
One year after the beginning of the war, we invite you to a series of events together with “Deutsches Theater Berlin". Under the title “STAY UNITED 2023” Ukrainian artists and DT ensemble members present three evenings both in "Hotel Continental" and in Deutsches Theater, reflecting on the catastrophic state of things in Europe that has been going on for a full year now.
Stay United 2023 #1: 23. 2. DT // 2.3. Hotel Continental
Stay United 2023 #2: 23.3. DT & 30.3. Hotel Continental
Stay United 2023 #3: 27. 4. DT & 4.5. Hotel Continental
STAY UNITED #1:
Deaf Republic
23.2. Deutsches Theater / 2.3.2023 Hotel Continental
In light of the return of wartime violence in Europe, we present Ukrainian author Ilya Kaminsky's prophetic parable “The Deaf Republic”: A powerful poetic work about the fictional town of Vasenka under enemy occupation, an elegy on love and violence, a powerful plea against silence. Literature reading in german language with music by Ukrainian artist Mavka.
Reading in German language. With english subtitles.
Lesende: Felix Goeser, Almut Zilcher. Musik: Mavka
STAY UNITED #2 Women at War
23.3. Deutsches Theater /30.3.2023 Hotel Continental
Warfare is a man's business - that's a common view. But although wars are usually declared by men, they permeate the societies involved at large. Women are mostly victims, sufferers or even spoils of war, but they also fight as activists, reporters, paramedics, doctors or armed soldiers at the front. On this evening, the Hotel Continental and the German Theater are dedicated to the perspective of Ukrainian women and bring their voices together in a complex panorama of a spirit of resistance, the will to survive and practical reason. A sniper fighting on the front line of the war, a train conductor who tells of her experiences with other women on the evacuation trains, an artist between Kyiv and Berlin and a Ukrainian author who has to watch the tragedy from afar and struggles for words. With texts by Tanja Maljartschuk, Asia Bazdyrieva, Anna Mrachkosvka and excerpts from reports by Ukrainian women. Laguages: ukrainian, english, german. With english subtitles.
Reading with music. With: Sofiia Kroshka, Anna Mrachkovska and Birgit Unterweger and Julia Windischbauer. Music: Axxi Oma.
STAY UNITED #3 What do we make from the dark?
27.4. Deutsches Theater/ 4.5. Hotel Continental
Is it presumptuous to hope that from destruction will grow the potential for renewal? That something else, perhaps utopian, could emerge from under the rubble? One thing is clear – the war has shaken conditions in Ukraine and throughout Europe. The third part of our series is dedicated to the question of what is yet to be won - despite the immense losses: What forces did war unleash, what visions fuel? Where does the desire to imagine a new, shared future take us?
Reading by Sofiia Kroshka, Vasyl Protsiuk and Kathleen Morgeneyer (DT) I music by Ukrainian musician Vogelmilch.
